We do have a vital interest at stake in making sure that China does not control the global
semiconductor supply chain in Taiwan.
We depend on that supply chain for our entire modern way of life.
So one of the things that I have said is that until we achieve semiconductor independence,
we will ensure that Taiwan is not invaded by China.
But after that, our commitments will change.
And after that, I'm not going to send our sons and daughters to die to fight somebody
else's civil war.
